On your troop’s in-depth tour, see blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds in Machalilla National Park, come face-to-face with colorful sea creatures when you go snorkeling off Isla de la Plata, and straddle the earth’s hemispheres at the equatorial line. You will also gain a deeper understanding of local communities during your cultural immersion activities.

Day 1: Fly to Ecuador

Arrive in Quito

 

Day 2: Quito

Take a tour of Quito:

• Independence Plaza
• Government Palace

Visit the Santo Domingo Church
Take an excursion to the Equatorial Line
Visit the Intinan Museum 
 

Day 3: Quito • Riobamba

Transfer to Riobamba region
Participate in cultural immersion activities:

• Meet children at their school
• Observer farming, handicrafts, cooking

 

Day 4: Riobamba • Guayaquil

Visit Chimborazo Volcano

Travel to Guayaquil

 

Day 5:  Guayaquil

Visit a local school or take part in a service project

Take a tour of Guayaquil:

• Malecon 2000 riverfront park
• Cerro Santa Ana neighborhood

 

Day 6: Guayaquil • Puerto López

Visit the Parque Histórico Guayaquil
Travel via the Ruta del Spondylus to Puerto López

 

Day 7:  Puerto López

Enjoy a boat ride to Machalilla National Park

Visit Isla de la Plata

Snorkel off Isla de la Plata

 

Day 8: Puerto López • Guayaquil

Travel to Dos Mangas

Enjoy a half-day hike in the coastal rainforest

Participate in a handicraft workshop with local community:

• Learn how to make a Panama hat
• Learn how to work with tagua seed

Return to Guayaquil

 

Day 9: Depart for home
